I assume you are trying to use the 3 pin connector to power the fan instead of the 4 pin molex?? 😕
What you are trying to do will overload the 3 pin connector shorting it out. That would be like trying
to connect the fan to the 3 pin connector on the motherboard, not a good thing. I guess my next Q
is WHY ?? 😕.

If you are using that to connect the Tornado to the Nexus, then it should be fine. However, the Tornado might draw too much power for the Nexus to handle, and that will result in you losing that channel on the Nexus. You should check how many watts the Nexus can supplied per channel first, or maybe someone else knows.
 
That adapter is cheaper here. Just tried it a while ago and it worked. Since the tornado is rated at 12v which happens to be the max the nexus can take, I'd go easy on using it at max speed and only do so when you are around.
