Will this work with this slot?

I am getting a sata pci add on card. It is pci express but only 1x will it work in any pci slot?

No, it will not work in "any" PCI slot. PCI is PCI and PCI-E (PCI Express) is PCI-E. Two completely different sockets. Do you know if your motherboard has PCI-E? What motherboard do you have?

Then you're good to go. :thumbsup: You can put a PCI-E 1x card in a 4x/8x.

1x slots are much smaller, about 2 inches long.
16x are used for video cards, including SLI. It may not run that fast, but it's still a 16x in form..
So, no. It won't work.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

OP is getting a PCI-E x1 card. It will work in any PCI-Express slot, regardless of the number of lanes the slot supports.

Sorry, you're wrong.

A PCI express card is upward compatible, so a 1x card will fit in any card slot, a 4x card will fit into an 8 or 16x port and so on
