Will this visually make a difference??

I was convinced I was going to wait for the next generation of 3dfx cards to come out before buying one but with the recent price drop on the V5500 I am getting itchy to buy. My last video card upgrade went from an ATI rage pro 4MB of memory card to a V3 2000 pci card and visually I was blown away. I play a lot of modern games, Freespace 2, star trek elite forces, and sacrafice is bought just waiting for the holidays to get is as a present. So my basic question after babbling for awhile is will I visually see a difference between my V3 and the V5500 while playing those games. Rest of my system is a duron 700 oc to 900, CL soundblaster live gamer, 256 MB memory, and decent 17 inch monitor (hoping to replace monitor with a hitachi or comparable 19 inch flat screen in a few months).

TIA Glp1

with a V5, you can use FSAA, textures larger than 256x256 in size, 32-bit colour (you probably wont notice a difference in the actual colour (22-bit effective of your V3 compared to 24-bit of teh V5), but the other 8 bits are for transperancies (alpha). Water and smoke with look a lot better. Also, the z-buffer is upgraded to either 24-bit or 32-bit (can someone confirm either?) so objects in the distance won't shimmer nearly as much.
