Will this video card fit on a Gigabyte DS3R mobo?

So I'm helping my friend build a computer, and now that the 7950s have pretty much disappeared from Newegg, I think I'm gonna stick with a x1950pro. I'm thinking the Powercolor x1950pro Extreme w/AC looks like a pretty good deal at $146 shipped/AR but I'm not entirely sure if it's going to fit on his mobo, a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R. It looks like there might not be much room on it. I don't really care about losing extra PCI-E slots. What do you guys think?

Or perhaps I should just get the Sapphire, which is a little cheaper. I'm worried about what people are saying about heat issues in the reviews on Newegg, though. The reviews I read on the web about the Powercolor said that it ran pretty cool.

An 8800GTX will fit on that motherboard, so any X1950 Pro will fit, with no problems.

I'd personaly go with the 1950xt. http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814102067

Give it a day or two for the rebates to come back, it it doesn't, then the 1950pro still is a pretty good deal. I thought they came a little cheaper then 145$ though.

I was thinking of getting that but I'm concerned about noise issues on that model plus the XT is quite the power hog IIRC. We are on a tight $1000 budget for everything, including monitor and OS, so I'm trying to keep costs down. I'm thinking of the Antec 430W earthwatts PS for $45 AR on newegg as the PS right now.

Quite the power hog is relative, relative compared to what kind of PSU you plan on buying. A enermax liberty 400w with 30a combined on the 12v rails can handle a normal rig + a 1950xt no problem. Comes at 80$, and can't be called cheap. I'm pretty sure a 500w coolermast extreme can handle a 1950xt too. Which comes a lot cheaper. I don't know how good of a PSU that is though, would have to look it up at jonnyguru's.

Hmm, well the 430W earthwatts has 34A combined on the 12V rails, maybe the x1950xt wouldn't be such a bad option.

Heh for comparison, my x2 3800+ at 2.5ghz, 2gb ddr400, 1 hd, 2 dvd readers/burners, 2 case fans, ac64pro AND a 8800gts 320mb, all powered by a combined 30a on the 12v rails. So unless you have an inordinate amount of casefans/hd's and such hooked up, you should be fine with a 1950xt ^^

Yeah, we're looking at 2 case fans, 1 HD, and 1 ODD as the only other peripherals. Processor will be an e6550 or e6750, both are low power consumers. Guess that means I'll have some room to spare on the video card.
