I think you could use a bit more juice. TI4200 maybe..
but it's "OK"

not very powerful really though... it would play Quake3 fine, and UT2K3 alright.. but Doom3, it will get obliterated. :D

not sure how it compares to the 7200... i am guessing the 440 would be a tad better than a 7200....

A geforce3 would be a better choice (new is $90 for a ti200 at newegg, used in FS/FT or new in some Hot Deal a little less).

Check the 31 VGA card roundup at tomshardware.com to compare gf4mx vs. radeons vs. gf3

If you could et a radeon9000pro that would be better

but yeah, its fine for you configuration

a ti4200 on a 1.4 ghz Duron seems odd to me.

I was unaware that there was a 440 SDR. It probably performs better, but not by much. I would go with a Radeon 7500/8500 for a good match to your system. The GF3 is good too, but I can't play without anisotropic filtering; the GF3 takes a large performance hit with AF on and has a lower quality implementation to boot.

Saphire Radeon 8500LE 64MB OEM $72 @ newegg.com, overclocks easily to retail speeds, at this price this card is an absolute steal, only thing that comes close in its price range is 4200TI:). YOu could spend $160 and get a 9500NP and do a 9700 mod like I did;).

The 7200 is a 64mb version of the Radeon 32mb. It's not ati doesn't work with your board. It should be I don't know how to get ati to work with my board. There's a big difference between a 7200 and 8500. I'm assuming you uninstalled your video card drivers when trying the 7200. If you had another card before. Also installed the 4 in 1 drivers before the video card. Otherwise if you want something better either a gf3 ti200 for $90 or an ati 8500LE 128MB for $88.
Your motherboard has a kt-266a chipset so ati cards should work. 8500 drivers are way better than the 7200. I'm using the catalyst 3.0's with an 8500 retail version.

I can ditto the one comment about the 7200 card. It was either that or a 7000 that I once had, and it was crap, and wouldn't work correctly. I got a GF2 ti200, and that was Ok, but wouldn't work good for other reasons. Then I got an 8500 on two different motherboards, and they are Great !!

no MY RADEONS WORK W>? MY MOBO HERES OTHER PROOF ALSO

gifty74,11/19/2002 6:11:23 PM

I too ordered this AK32L board with a ATI Radeon 32 video card and the system continually locks up. Just logged on here to check the reviews and found that someone else mentioned they are not compatible, the AK32L and Radeon video cards. Too late now. I agree that it should be mentioned somewhere in the board description if there is a known incompatibility issue. Now I have to send the card back (w/ a 15% restocking fee) and buy a new one.
I just found this review on newegg.com see i heard b4 radeons arent going to work w/ this pc..
N/A,11/2/2002 11:03:41 AM

The board itself is surprising to me as it runs very well. Unfortunately ATI Radeons do not work with this board.

NEWEGG Moderators: I think it would benefit Newegg if you mentioned this somewhere. I am a little disapointed that I purchased a board that I cannot use. '

yes its working fine w/ 2k but crashes and xp and sometimes does the same in 2k so i know now my card is ;-) not going to work w/ this mobo.. Ty all who tryed to help me and the 1st person to reply ty very much!!

AS U CAN SEE OTHERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM I FORAMTED DIFFERNT OS AND ALL IT JUST LOCKS UP. SO I GOT MY TNT2 IN NOW JSUT ORDERD A GF4 MMX440SE
