Will this floppy drive work under a win2k with free usb slots EVEN THOUGH the reseller claims it won't.

ok, I upgraded my system but I think I damaged by mobo ( I probably did though) becuase it won't access the floppy drive properly and I've tried 3 different cables and 3 different floppy drives. This computer isn't for my but my grandfather and I don't want to make things more complicated by buying a new mobo, case, etc. I'm thinking just getting an external USB will be a not cheap but quick fix. I came across a Mitsumi USB Floppy Drive @ PC Century for about $40 but they claim the device WON'T work under win2k but WILL work under win95(with USB update) and win98. I don't think that's true so I ordered it anyway but I just want to double check if it really won't/will work. I have to give my grandfather the computer tomorrow but the floppy drive can wait 1~2 weeks. I'm running win2k pro with a PCI USB card with a free USB slot.
I could get a new mobo but the case is AT and so is the PSU and the cpu is a slot1 so it would cost even more $$ to get an up2date unit. I could replace the mobo, it's cheap, but I don't wanna get raped by shipping charges and ground takes too long, got that 24~48hr deadline.
