It won't melt, but I wouldn't spend the extra cash on a 9800XT, just get a 9800 Pro and you won't be missing much performance and you'll have a bunch of cash left over in your pocket.

EDIT: Like Shady06 said below, PC4400 is WAY overkill, go for PC3500 or PC3200.

all i'm worried about is heat. i read that sumbody's 9700 pro burned out cuz of the heat.

lots of bad decsions: the 9800XT is a waste of money since you can get a 9800 pro 128 for ~$200, the pc-4400 is a waste with that setup

Yeah the XT and Ram is over kill save your self 250 bucks and get a sapphire 9800 Pro and the RAM is useless because an A64 systems can't use that high of FSB attm. PC3500 or possibly PC3700 is alright. I would go with Muskin PC3500 Level 1 personlly. it will also save you about 200 bucks
