Will this setup be sufficient for bc2?

Sold off a i7 950 set up as i was gonna upgrade to 2600k and hold off on any other upgrades for a few years and pair it with a gtx580.

Event's in the last few days has put off my 2600k build till october and i was offered basically a entire core 2 system minus a case in trade for the gtx580 so i bit the bullet and traded.

Love Bc2 and i know the game is pretty demanding but wondering if 1600x1200 on medium is possible on this set up...

Looking for playability and for me 35 min and 55 fps is pretty playable if not 1600x1200 that what settings and resolution?

Depends on quality settings. With that card and a dual core I doubt you'll get near 55FPS at 1600x1200 with high settings. I haven't played BC2 in a long time and so don't remember what options there are, but mainly lowering texture quality for a 512MB card and turning down any shadows and shaders or particle effects should get you close.

The performance hit going from 4 cores to 2 isn't anywhere near as noticeable now as it was when the game was released. It will run fine on medium settings I think.

Should be fine on medium - even low looks pretty damn good. When I visit my folks I play it on a PC I built them (so I could secretly have a gaming device at their place) and it ran fine with an Athlon IIx2 and an 8800gt. I think the res was x1024.

Was thinking this morning about a build i did for a friend.

She is using my old 8800gts

Upgraded her rig to a x2 550 and 4gb ram.

She was able to play 1440x900 medium just fine.

Thinking this build might do a bit better thats if the x2 550 is a close contender to a 3.2ghzs e8200.
