Will this ram work in my Macbook?

That'll work, but the link that Tyranicus provided might be better, because once I had a PowerBook, put faster ram than needed, and the RAM sticks went out after four months of usage, maybe it was just the brand, I don't know.

Well, the older PPC macs were more picky about their RAM, but if the sticks went out then that was bad RAM.

Aren't there some MBPs and MBs that can take 8GB of RAM and use most of it? Is that possible?

yes, but if it's an older pre-santa rosa platform, it can only support "3GB" max. My sad imac is in that state.

i used the ocz ddr2-800 sodimm 2x2GB kit from newegg on my mbp (santa rosa) and it worked just fine. got the same kit for my dads 2.0Ghz c2d macbook and it worked fine in that too (3.3GB out of 4GB seen like you said).
