Will this RAM run dual-channel?

I'm 99% sure that their value memory (like most other value memory) isnt dual channel. If you want my suggestion, either get 2x512 mb DC dimms with a low latency rating (2=intel, 2.5=amd lowest) or get 1x1gb dimm and upgrade later. I'd honestly suggest 2x512, because upgrading to 2 gigs from 1 stick of 1 gig wont get u a matched pair.

Of course, if you have the moolah, just get XMS 2gb 2x1024 optimized kit

i may stand corrected...i thought that the dimms had to be DC as well

"Dual channel" RAM is jus two sticks that are guaranteed to work in dual channel together. Back in the early nForce2 days I got any two sticks of PC3200 and it ran dual channel perfectly in both AMD and Intel systems.

Agreed, I've bought value memory that say "not dual channel qualified" and they still work fine in dual channel. It's a function of the chipset and not the memory. I'm 99.5% sure that the memory in the OP will work fine in dual channel.

It's not the memory that determines dual channel - this is a function of the mobo. HOWEVER dual channel timing is VERY touchy and requires MATCHED sticks. It certainly helps to buy memory that's packaged in pairs that are tested and guaranteed to work in dual channel like Corsair XMS memory.

I wouldn't use just any memory for dual channel. Mobos are very fussy about this. This forum is littered with posts from people who bought just any old memory off the shelf and have timing problems with dual channel.

I highly recommend Corsair XMS memory. Use their online database at Corsair.com to find the exact match for your mobo. Don't guess: http://compatible.corsairmemory.com/Default.aspx

Also I stongly urge you go here and see if there's recommended memory timing settings for your specific mobo using XMS memory: http://www.houseofhelp.com/v2/showthread.php?t=38150

Hope this helps...

It's not so touchy where you have to get matched sticks and do voodoo to make it work. If you get two sticks that are the same model (same chips and timings) a VAST majority of the time it'll just work.

I have a stick of Crucial 512mb PC2100 and a stick of TwinMOS CH-5 512mb PC3200 in this NForce2 board running in dual channel at PC2100 speeds. I dont know if the A64's memory controller is picky about mixing ram but "matched pairs" where they are tested by the company and guarunteed to work werent needed for NForce2 boards to allow "dual channel".
