Will this PSU work?

I am going to put a build together in the next few days. It will consist of the following:

ECS 6100SM-M Motherboard
AMD X2 3800+
1GB (Possibly 2gb) ddr2 pc-5300 667mhz ram
DVD-ROM
CD-RW
Not sure if I will put a video card in it, but I might.

My question is this. I have a 250wt 20 pin with the 4 pin 12v connection as well. However, the motherboard has a 24 pin connection. The manual says a 20 pin will work, but I am here to ask "Will it work fine" with the 20 pin and 250wt?

It may work, but I wouldn't run any PC I cared about at all using a generic 250 watt power supply which likely doesn't even provide the power its rated for & could easily cause problems with your new hardware.

I strongly suggest you drop $40-$50 on a decent quality 350-400 watt model like one of these:

FSP Group (Fortron Source) FSP350-60BN-S ATX12V 350W @ $34 + $7 shipping

SILVERSTONE ST350 ATX12V 2.2 350W @ $39 + $8 shipping

FSP Group (Fortron Source) AX400-PN, 400 watt @ $44 + $8 shipping

250w is more then likely OK for what you're doing (and if now overclocking) but I agree with the poster above. I would not use a generic PS unless I knew it was a quality re-badged. I would for safety sake and future growth do as the previous poster said.

I have never owned a raidmax powersupply so I cant say from first hand experience but I have heard bad things about them. In many ways the power supply is the most important pc of your pc (nothing works without it and if it goes bad it can take the rest of your machine with it), also a good powersupply will last for years and through multiple builds so its not something to skimp on. That being said if you can find a 300watt antec or enermax... it should be more then fine for your build, you definitely dont need anything really powerful.
