Will this PSU be enough for this system?

Hi folks,

I've compiled a system setup with the help of forum members and friends.
Before I make the order, there's one last question bothering me:

Will the PSU (XFX PRO550W) be enough to:
-Power the system (http://pcpartpicker.com/p/wVBj7P)
+ Overclock my CPU later
+ Add another HDD in the future
+ Plug in xboxcontroller, external hard drive sometimes, any keyboard+mouse I might buy later, cellphone, USB-hub,...
+ Have some headroom left?

Offtopic: what do you guys think of the system?

Thanks in advance :)

A pretty good build so far !

Technically, yes...a 550w psu will be able to run that system as is without any problem, as the partppicker says you will only need 365w (look in the upper right corner)

However, overclocking the cpu and/or adding a 2nd GPU, and you will be in trouble fast :(

Peripherals like mouse/kb/HDD's etc do take a little power but not enough to cause any problems though....

Although I have never used an XFX psu, most of what I have read about them have been so-so or not-that-great comments from users in various places on the web, so I suggest more research is warranted on other available psu's. I personally use Enermax and Corsair.

Also, surely you realize you could save ALOT of money ($100's) by buying some of these parts used, either here or over at (H)ard, TPU or OCN, right ??

I've done this recently with 4 different mid-to-high end rigs nottaproblemo :D

And oh yea, you may wanna double check the total height of the cooler, to make sure your case has enough room for it to fit once it is mounted on the cpu. I almost goofed on 1 of my builds, having a mere 1.3mm clearance for an EVO212 :)

Hi, thank you for your quick reply :)
I'm not planning on SLI in the future, so I picked a motherboard that does not support it.

According to pc-part picker, the scythe mugen 4 should fit in the case.
Another guy told me I could prolly fit the EVO212, as he had put it in a same-sized case himself some time before, but I wanted to play safe so went with the Mugen 4.

And yes, I'd probably be able to save a lot of money buying used parts, but the thought of it doesn't make me comfortable (yet). Maybe next build, this is my first one :)
I'm in Belgium if that info helps, I'm ordering most of the parts in the Netherlands (cheaper). Only ordering monitor and GPU in Belgium.

About the PSU: I've been told by several reviews and people that this is a quality budget PSU.

That PSU should fit you very nicely. There is absolutely no reason to waste money on a more powerful unit for your build. As it's "only" 80+ Bronze certified it's not the most efficient unit out there, but still okay. If you could affor something better (more efficient, thus probably both more quiet and durable), I'd go for the XFX XTR 550. It's $15 more, though. But worth it if you can afford it. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1550bbefx
