will this print server work?

Xerox CentreDirect Print Server

A guy wants to sell it to me for $10...but i never used one before. Doe sthsi have to be supported by XP in order to work on XP? Or do these servers not use any drivers at all?

You don't install drivers for a print server, you install drivers for the printer connected to it. You just configure a port using TCP/IP. As long as your printer is supported in XP.
