Well, my g/f really wants to see Roswell Season 3, but it is not gonna be release until summer 2005. It has been released in other parts of the world already....so, I was thinking that maybe someone had an advanced copy on ebay. Well, I get to ebay i find a bunch of versions. Some PAL, some NTSC, some claim the DVD is region 0 (most come from China), blah blah blah....How can you really tell if it will play in a region 1 DVD player? I asked, and the guy just answered "Yes".

Get a mod chip in a PS2/XBOX and you can play any DVD you want... from anywhere.

if it's a bootleg then most probably it will play your player. And if you're looking on ebay, chances are good that it's bootleg.

EDIT: If they claim it's region 0 then it'll play on anything since it's all regions.
EDIT2: oops, hit quote instead of edit. sorry for the postcount++

Region-free DVD players are not all that difficult to find, or make from a number of standard DVD players.

Region 0's are most likely illegal bootlegs. They will play on any dvd player, but you never know what kind of quality it will be, not only because of poor quality control, but because some bootleg dvds are just poor quality.

What make/model of DVD player is it? Pretty much anything made in Asia is readily hackable to make it region-free. Most nowadays are unlocked using a key sequence on the remote control.

I own a klh 1220 ( i think that is it). I tried looking for an unlock code, I keep getting this code that has a comma in it. I thought it meant use the 10+ button before the first set of numbers, but i was wrong.

Region 0 means it does not have a region code. It should work in your player. Quality on bootlegs is variable. I've seen stuff that looks perfect, and I've seen camcorder-in-the-movie-theater stuff.

Yeah they come factory, I mean bedroom, sealed. :p

Just remember that you get what you pay for. I've purchased bootleg CD's while I was in China and let me tell you, some of the quality on these movies are TERRIBLE. I would suggest you wait for the release here.

Not quite:

Regoin 0 or no regional coding only matters when the broadcast format is compatible with your DVD player.

In other words, a region 0 PAL dvd will most likely not play in a North American player, except on your PC.

If you must get a DVD region 0 make sure it is NTSC.
