Will this P.S. work for a 8800GTS 640mb?

I currently have an Ultra X-Finity 500 Watt PSU. From what I'ver read, the 8800 GTS requires 24A on the 12V rail. My power supply has two 12V rails. One is 16A and the other is 18A for a max of 384W. Is it possible that the card wil pull from both rails or does it only use one? I never plan on using SLI, I'm just curious if I need a new PSU or not. Thanks for any input

I believe the 8800 GTS pulls about 26A (don't hold me to that). You look to have a total of 28A so you should be in the clear.

I actually have 34A on both rails combined. I'm just not sure if the card will draw from both rails simultaneously or not. Basically I don't know if they are in parallel?

My system at a glance:

C2D 6400@3.08
Thermaltake Blue Orb II
DS-3 rev. 2.0 BIOS:10
2x1Gb G-skill 6400 4-4-4-12
XFX 7600GS
Ultra X-finity 500w P.S.
2 80Gb Western in RAID 0

You stated it has a 384 watt max rail, divide that by 12 gives you a combined 32 amp rail. I think you'll be fine.

The Ultra X-Finity 500 Watt wouldn't be my first choice in a psu, but my guess is that you'll be fine.

I have a x1950Pro which uses slightly more power IIRC, a e6700, 2 HDDS, and the same PSU. Works fine for me.

I have CM eXtreme power 600w with dual 12v 18A on each and i didn't risk to buy X1950PRO AGP, recommendation is 22A on each rail.
I guess he should buy 700w PSU with Qrail.

You may be ok for a while.
Let's hope when it dies it won't take anything else with it.
Mine died after 9 months of sporadic usage but Ultra gave me a new 600w as a RMA replacement.
