Let me know if this will work. My brother has a wireless DSL router in his room he has his PC, Xbox, and DTV Tivo connected to it. I want to be able to connect my 2 PC's, Xbox and DTV Tivo to his DSL. My toys are in another room so running Cat5e cables from one room to the other wont work. Getting wireless adaptors for all my toys would just cost too much and it seems like a waste since all my stuff is in one room. Could I get a wireless access point and connect it to a switch so everything can have access the internet? If it will work, is it the best way to make this connection? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Actually what you need is a Wireless Bridge. Then uplink(connect) the bridge to the switch and run all the toys off the switch.

I do the same thing but instead of toys i have computers.

See figure for setup:

internet--DSLWirelessRouter.....................WirelessBridge--Switch
************|***|****|*********************************************|**|
*********brothers toys*****************************************your toys

Key
--- =Wires
||| =Wire to toys
.... =Wireless Singnal
*** =Disregaurd them as i needed them for white space

-bob

HERE is the bridge that i am using with my Netgear wireless router. This bridge performs well for me.

Can the router, bridge, and switch be from different manufacturers or do they have to be the same? He has one of those 108Mbps routers so would I have to get a 108Mbps bridge also? Would the 108Mbps bridge be better if we wanted to play xbox games against each other thru home network?

i believe playign xbox games against each other, yous till go out to the internet through a central server ( anyone know a REAL answer to this) so the 108 mbps probably won't impact that. all three of those coudl be from a different manufacturer.

I am nto sure about the bridges though, whether they both need to be 108 or not. depends on if the 108 can negotiate to a lesser level.
