Will this kill my PSU?

I want to replace a potentially bad PSU in my computer w/ an old PSU (Xtreme 300W - PS-300x). It's going into my rig in my "signature." Will it kill the PSU if I do?

it will probably work but i would reccomend getting a better one soon, might not want to take the chance of frying anything.

He won't "fry" anything by using a lower wattage PSU. Pretty much the only thing that could happen is lockups/crashes from not enough juice.

OK...I tried it last night...and.......

I think my motherboard is fried! When I tried to power it on, I heard a buzz in the PSU. So I stopped and took it out. Tested the PSU I THOUGHT was dead in my old computer and it works just fine. Can it be my motherboard that's giving me problems?

The 300W PSU should be enough for a P4 system. For a P4 mobo you must have a PSU that has the extra power connector (4-pin square) and both the ATX and P4 power connectors must be plugged in. If your old PSU doesn't have the 4-pin connector, you can get an adapter from SVC or Newegg (under I-Star), or cut the connector off a dead PSU and splice it into a spare drive power lead.
