Will this kill anything or cause any problems?

I wanna know, if i unplug one of my case fans, which are connected to a 4 pin molex direct to the PSU, and not to the mobo, while the computer is on and running, will it do any damage?

Thanks

Since I been building computer(3+ years). I've hooked and unhooked fans from the mobo and PSU while they was on. I've never had nothing die from it. You just need to watch what your doing when connection them back to the mobo and not touch anything on the mobo.

I do this all the time. I'm kinda crazy though. I've never had a problem. Is there any problem with unplugging devices like hard drives?
Electricians here need to warn me

Cheers dude

Damn man, i can hear myself think now!! :Q :D

Me thinks im gunna have to invest in some slightly higher priced fans now, that make less noise.

Anyone know of any good quiet cheapish fans with LED's in them?

Thanks

No even I am not brave enough to plug/unplug a IDE device while the computer is on. I recommend you don't do it. It might not kill it first time but will eventually for sure. They ain't made to be hooked/unhooked up on the fly.

Besides if you say have a CD-Rom/HDD hooked up to the IDE channels on the mobo but just forget the power plug your gonna have to restart the PC anyway(once the power is connected) before windows will detect it right. I'd say it would lock everything up but have never tried. Play it safe always shutdown before connecting a IDE device cable/power. As for the hooking fans to the mobo part just make sure you watch what your doing because one slip of the finger could shock you and possibly fry your mobo. So don't go trying to plug a fan up and the connector in between 2 resisters or something.

Case fans that hook to the PSU you don't have any worries just plug them in and go.
