I need to get myself a second HD and i was looing thru them and came accross this one that fits my budget and needs. what im curiouse about is the 3GB transfer speed, will it work properly on my mobo listed below or will it be scaled down to 1.5GB. could any other problems arise from using this? the 160 Gig that am currently using is the 7200.8 with 1.5GB transfer.

The candidate drive you are looking at is backward compatible and will be OK.

I have similar questions a few posts down.

I've thought about it a little bit, however. Most benchmarks i've looked at, even with 4xHD in RAID have a "Sustained" transfer rate of 300-350 MBP/s, so even if that is 4x350, that is 1.4 GBP/s. So in either event, the speed wont get used.

This is of course, just a theory. I looked at some of the benches at www.techreport.com

If you are just wondering about compatibility, both drives will work in the same setup.
