Will this fan be quieter than my AMD stock fan:

the stock fan sounds like an F'ing plane taking off...I can't stand it anymore...and my 3500+ runs at roughly 105 F idle...
Very much so, run it off the motherboard fan header and let the BIOS control the fan and it becomes completly noiseless in most systems.

I woudn?t buy it from Newegg though due to their prices on heatsinks and fans. Try Jab-Tech, or SVC.

Doesn't perform as well as a Freezer 64 Pro nor does it have a simple mounting mechanism. Oh...did I mention the Freezer 64 Pro is cheaper? Go to svc.com and search it up in the K8 heatsinks.

ok...just checking...i dont know much about it, but its all over the forums so i guess i should check it out. It's cheap compared to my planned xp-90c... can you compare the two in basic temps? I know they're two different types of coolers (upright and normal or something like that) they move the air differently.

have u checked out scythe's ninja? or the SI-120? i think they require motherboard removal but are 2 of the best coolers on the market and the scythe can be run passive if yuo have good airflow near it

Ive never been a fan of the xp-90/90c cause you need a 90mm fan which tend to be louder. They are also sorta outdated and in my testing, dont really cool all that great.

If I were you, id go SI-120 or something. Or Ninja maybe. Something that has a 120mm or quiet fan.

The Ninja requires mobo removal, but the SI-120 does not.

With decent airflow, you can take the fan off the Ninja and use it passively FTW. Passive=silent (as opposed to a quiet fan)

Thermaltake BigTyphoon FTW!!! king of air coolers:beer:

Tuniq Tower is arguably very, very slightly better, good luck getting it into your case.

With a fan flowing decent amounts of air, the Big Typhoon, Scythe Ninja, Scythe Mine, and Tuniq Tower all perform similarly. Go passive, or with a duct, and the Ninja stands out.

The Ninja Plus is now $30+shipping at Jab-tech. Be warned that it does not work on AM2 sockets (of the previous list, ony the Mine does, AFAIK).

The Ninja requires mobo removal, but the SI-120 does not.

I thought the SI-120 came with a backplate, so you have to remove the mobo and replace the old one? but I could be wrong, it only weighs ~400 grams, which I think is light enough to not need one..
