Will this fan be good enough?

I FINALLY got a 2600 266FSB that I have been trying to get for the past week. It should be here soon. Unfortunately, it will beat my new Volcano 11 🙁

Will my old volcano 5 be adequate for temoporary use on the 2600?

ahh nice a 266 fsb 2600+!!!

haven't seen too many of those 🙂

there were a few people in the xtreme forum that had them running at like 2.6 to 2.7 ghz on air...

but they are rare...

as long as it is better than stock you'll be alright
you can always mount a larger fan on or above the heatsink if you want

K. Thanks.

Uhm...how warm is too warm? Since my 1800 runs at 60-65 C, should I just watch for higher than that?

really? they have new steppings of 2600? i thought 2600 was pretty muched phased out and all the ones left were old steppings😛

but yes, some steppings oc like crazy now🙂

if it doesn't oc, no use spending money on more cooling.

lookupthe wattage of the 2600, it probably isn't much, a volcano will be more then enough. even though volcano sucks 😉

geez!!! your 1800+ runs above 60c on that heatsink ??

the 2600+ should prove noticeably hotter

hmmm i guess it wouldn't kill it (unless it went over 80c to 90c) but definately not the kind of temps many people on these forums like
also lets hope your motherboard is reading those temps a bit high

my 2000 palomino runs 60c with retail heatsink. you must not be using the thermal paste right or the case has bad ventilation.

Ok, so how is 60-65 (meaning, 60 idle, 65 after playing games) so far off from your 60? Its actually doing 59 right now while I'm browsing the forums and using a couple chat programs.

ah, i just know my friend had a full copper one. should be better then any retail heatsink as lousy as it is for its price.
