I am trying to build a gaming computer, which I can play Battlefield 3, Flight simulator X, Crysis, and all upcoming games in ultra settings.

This is the parts which my friend liquidating from his store:

1) ASUS Rampage III Formula LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
2) Intel Core i7-980 Processor Extreme Edition 3.33 GHz
3) EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 590
4) Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
5) Antec High Current Pro HCP-1200 1200W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply
6) COOLER MASTER HAF X RC-942-KKN1 Black Steel/ Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case
7) AeroCool V12XT - System fan speed controller
8) ZALMAN CNPS9900MAX-B 135mm Long life bearing CPU Cooler Blue LED
9) 12 GB Kingston 1600MHz DDR3 RAM 4x3
10) SAMSUNG BLU-RAY 12X DVD-ROM DVDRW DUAL LAYER & LIGHTSCRIBE BURNER DRIVE

All for $900 What you guys think?????
Will this last at least a year or it just over priced???
I want to make this computer to run in ULTRA settings. Is parts worth the buy or something else.

**Please don't judge the parts by the price guess if I purchased this parts for $2,000 will it be worth it??**

If you were going to buy these part at their normal prices you would be wasting a lot of money, but at $900 it's a great machine and should be able to play most games at ultra for quite sometime.

So what parts would you recommend to make a beast computer.. Please comment!!!

🙁 so these parts are outdated??
I would not say it was outdated just yet. Although not the latest, the i7-980 is still a very powerful cpu and is sometimes faster than the 2600k. One thing I forgot was a cpu cooler, get a good cpu cooler and overclock that bad boy 🙂 The only negative with going with the i7-980 instead of the 2600k is that you won't be able to upgrade to Ivy Bridge without changing your motherboard. Here is a review of the 2600k and i7-980

the i7-980 wins some while the 2600k wins others so it is a toss up really, for gaming at least.

Wow some games run better in 2600k then 9800 damn I'm soo confused! I want to make a computer which I don't need to upgrade for approximately 2 years. Is Geforce GTX 590 better then 580??

and also is ZALMAN CNPS9900MAX-B 135mm Long life bearing CPU Cooler Blue LED good for cooling these processor because it got good feedbacks.

yeah the 590 uses two underclocked 580 gpus and is definitely the faster of the two.

Thanks man you really helped me by making a big decision 😀 one last final question should I buy the parts then, without fearing that it will be outdated in less then a year. Thanks again for answering my questions!!! I owe you one 😀

Looks like a troll thread to me. Then again, my troll sensors are sometimes oversensitive. Maybe I'm just paranoid.

That CPU cooler is quite good but some better ones are the Noctua NH-D14, Thermalright Silver Arrow and Thermalright Archon.

I am getting these parts from my friend's store who is closing his store because he is going back to his country. I am not trolling please believe me.

$900 is very good for those parts. The GPU alone costs $750 normally. So... /thread 😀

If I were you I'd grab it, then sell the noisy, hot piece of crap that is GTX 590 and buy a MSI GTX 570 Twin Frozr II / III or Galaxy GTX 580 and enjoy 😛. Won't run Ultra always, but it's still better than a GTX 590. Upgrade the video card next year to GTX 680.
