Will this card work?

hello, I have a dell optiplex 745 with a PCI-E 1.0A slot. I would like to drop in a radeon 5570 and have the ability to do some 1280x720 gaming on my big screen. my issue is however in the refrence manual it states that the max power draw for a video card can only be 25 watts, does this sound right? If this is the case, I may be forced down to a 5450. This machines intended use will be for HTPC movies, music, surfing and hopefully some light gaming.

I think you've got that wrong, it should be 75w not 25w.
If it is 75w then that 5570 would work fine, but I would recommend a 5670 AT LEAST.

It's a SFF case, I think the 5570 is the best i can get. to put things into perspective, i have a 3650 in my "good" computer 🙂

Check out Anandtech's article: http://www.anandtech.com/show/2935

Not very rosy review, but the conclusion did have a highlight for those who MUST have low profile video cards: "Last, but certainly not least however, is the area the 5570 excels at: low-profile cards. The low-profile market is basically dominated by bottom-tier cards such as the GeForce 210, Radeon 4350, Radeon 5450, and of course a number of even older cards. The 5570 is faster than every single one of them, usually by a factor of 2-3x. "

Hmm, the card that ships with the optiplex 745 is a radeon x1300 pro and the card draws around 31 watts peak. I think i will be ok with 42 🙂
