Will this be locked because someone is spamming it?

Several people have invested time in the thread.
It is only fair to allow additional relevant information to be added to the thread if someone in the future has a relevant question or suggestion.

However, I have witnessed in the past that mods have locked threads just because of the actions of one single individual.
Locking a thread feels like the failure of the thread to me.

This example is a very small thread. But, what if it was a very large thread with very large useful posts. Then, it would have been even more shame to lock it. Yet, anyone is free to spam any thread!

Is there no route for saving such threads?
Is there anything I, or any other member, could have done to avoid this?
 
Many times there can be double & triple posts due to forum lag.

When the post reply window does not go away as expected, a person will press the reply to topic button again and again.

However, given the timestamps, this is not the case
