Will this 8800GT fit on my motherboard?

I had an 8800GT in my A8N-SLI, so as long as you case will fit it, yes.

Never used that one, but I'd go out on a limb and say you'll be quite alright.

I actually almost bought that case before settling with the Armor series. And as for your video card, yes, it will work. PCI Express 2.0 is fully backward compatible with 1.0. Your only "problem" is that you won't get the full bandwidth benefits as you would if you had a 2.0 motherboard.

I'll be building a new system next month, and I recently made the switch to the 8800 GTS 512. I've read a number of reviews and benchmarks on this, and the stats for GPUs running PCIe 1 vs. PCIe 2 are quite different, especially in the bandwidth space. The increased pipe will really open up your graphics capabilities, especially with Vista and the higher-end games.

I'll put $50 that benchmarks on a P35 v X38 board are w/in a 4% (error) margin. Anyone want to take me up on it. I have the P35 board... You have the X38?

I just googled your case, and the directron (great vendor) pic shows the standoff points. As long as your hdd isnt in one of the top 1 (or2) 3.5" mounting points you'll be fine. And should you need to move your hdd down, is that REALLY that big of a deal? If so, buy a tampon and just do it (c)Nike.

So the PCI-E bus limits the capabilities of the 8800GT, not the 256-bit memory bus... interesting, provide a link?

Link us to this so-called review, beacuse much of what you said may not necessarily be true.

The GTS, many people would agree, performs similarly to the 8800GT at the same clock speeds, and even with the GTS's increased pipelines, it doesn't perform that much better for the greater cost.

And the claim that the 8800GTS runs faster on PCI-e 2.0 is bogus.
