Hi I'm new with overclocking, I am soon going to be purchasing a new pc, and I am pretty sure i'm going to go with this:

athlon XP 2100+ ("B-CORE AIUHB", is this good for oc :\ *noob*)
thermalright SLK-800
epox 8RDA+
512mb kingmax DDR400
radeon 9500 pro/80g maxtor hdd/etc..

I am going with the 2100+ because of it's price and apparent OC ability. With the above hardware (and your help ;)), what speed would i be able to get the cpu up to whilst maintaining good stability?

Just add about 0.10 Volts to the CPU and you can hit 2300MHz relatively easily (11.5x200)

Will the 1700 run as stable? All i want is 2.2GHz.. mm that corsair ram is expensive, but i might be able to afford it with the $$ i save on the processor :D

<edit> also i can only find one australian site that is selling the 1700+ JIUHB heh

YMMV, i'm maxed out @ 11x200 w/ 1.85 vCore

also, you might wait for the 8rda3+ which will have SATA (no biggie to me), 2 NICs (shrug) & vDD adjustable in bios!!!!

kingmax? never heard of it. Probably would be better off going with a namebrand like crucial/twinmos/hyperx if you're going to overclock.

In Australia those brands aren't very common, kingmax/kingston/corsair are the mainstream here.. but i might see if i can get my hands on some crucial, twinmos, or cheap corsair because i'm not sure about kingmax/kingston either. *search search*
