Will these ever happen?

Hello,

I know this is going back a bit, but I was wondering if anyone still played things like Alpha Centauri and so forth. I've recently been running SMAC on a VM on a seperate monitor, so I can work and play, and I find it just as great as I did when I was running it on a P2-400 back in the day. Does anyone know if there will ever be a sequel? Who owns the name? Even a rumor of development would be great.

I hope Firaxis is working on Civilization 5.

I wish Firefly studios would start working on a Stronghold Crusader 2.

I would splooge if Robot Entertainment made a spiritual successor to AoE 1.

Firaxis still owns all the rights to SMAC. Bryan Reynolds doesn't work there anymore, but I'm sure they could still design a good SMAC2 (especially if Sid lends a hand). Sometimes I read interviews with Firaxis guys, and the interviewer asks about a sequel to SMAC. Firaxis always acknowledges that people want a sequel, but I've never seen any hard information that one is coming. I wouldn't be surprised either if they were already working on it. As far as I know, there's no info at all about what's next for Firaxis, so it very well could be a new SMAC.
