I know I need to buy a northbridge chipset heatsink but unsure whether the Thermalright HR-05 will fit beside my cpu hsf.

The HR-05-SLI would be a better option, it is offset and may end up fitting better

It's a rather dumb question but would SLI fit on a non SLI board? Or wasa it just labelled that way to explicitly say that it's compatible with all boards INCLUDING the SLI ones?

yes.

it should fit fine.

the "sli" is just a way of saying that it's off settable to allow for non-interference when you run cards in sli.

You are now up to 6 threads about the same issue, your overclock, and how to fix it. I am not giving any more assistance until you can learn to STICK WITH ONE THREAD.

-_-, this isn't about overclocking. I've already overclocked successfully, if you read my previous posts.

Settle down.
