<< well with that lame "machine", i wouldn't even think. >>

Where the hell do you get off calling it lame????

The USPS, City of Atlanta, police departments around the country, GE, and Amazon will all begin trials of using the device early next year. The device is a MAJOR feat in control and design.

DO NOT belittle the accomplishment...better yet, let me see you try to build something as innovative as "IT":|

There probably will, but it's going to likely be one of those "unless you know somebody and can get in early, you will NOT get a good price" kind of IPO's.

For example.. .it goes public at 20... you put a buy in... but you're so far down the queue... you don't get executed until its at 40+. Esp. if this thing is as promising as it sort of looks at first glance. Imagine the benefits of something like this in NYC. or Boston.... or a major city that doenst have good public transportation like those two cities.

I could see a great value for commercial use

I can see massive use in countries other than the US

this new scooter will sell

I figure it will do reasonbly well with large warehousing companies, but no consumers
are going to shell out $3000 for that, and few cities or businesses are going to permit
people to ride those fvckers around. A few quick questions:

How the hell would that thing climb stairs?... or go down them safely?

How heavy is that thing? You're going to have to carry the damn thing sometimes.

Anyone hear of a bike? Its faster, ten times cheaper, has unlimited range, can be
secured just about anywhere and is already allowed in every city on the planet.

Does Huffy have an IPO? ;)

d00d... once you get outta school and have a nerd job, $3k ain't all that much. Esp. if you pay $3k over 5 payments for your Acura/Lexus/etc.... the $3k for the thing is w00t!!! No gas... pennies of electricity... no permits/licenses needed... great for NYC, Boston, Downtown anywhere... this would be a great year round thing for the students at the U. of Texas... no snow to deal with. I definitly see uses.

Now... the post office using those thing... yeh right. Those will get so hi-jacked... it's not even funny. :D ;)

They have some sort of electronic key. I don't think they'd be very easy to steal. Carjack, maybe.

there's also the entertainment value of these things. renting them out i see as a possible use for them. in a busy area you could start renting these out. maybe on the beach like Venice (LA) where you already have bike riders and roller bladers going around.

/me makes mental note to save up/raise some money :)

What are you talking about... I'm saying this: Postman A is riding superscooter thing in ghetto A. Ghetto Thugs A,B & C walk up to postman A and say "you bes' check yo'self foo'... give us yo' ride". Ghetto Thugs A,B, & C now have new superscooter WITH electronic key... unless it's implanted into Postman A's booty.

Oh my... great thought. Imagine DISNEY, SIX FLAGS, BUSH GARDENTS, Etc... they could buy 10,000 of these things for people to zip around their park on... at an outrageous rental fee of course!!!! OR, you could even take personal ones in there... SWEEEEEET.

I think I might buy one and try to rice it out... I HATE riced out things... but this would be an electrical engineering challenge (I mean actual performance ricing... not just appearance ricing like many of the rice fanboys do) to make that thing go 30MPH... or whatever other mod can be done on it. Of course, I would add an "M3" emblem on it or something, tho. :) :D

It would be the ultimate sign of geekdom unless you were a senior (as in senior citizen)
or had a disability.

Anyone remember the Razor Scooter? It was going revolutionize urban personal travel
and Amazon bought them for their warehouses too.

yeh... but the RAZOR requires personal power. Remember how many americans are lazy as he!!. Tons of lazy fools would buy this thing just so they didn't ahve to walk to their friggin' neighbors house.

innovation also sells. new technology sells. it doesn't have to be sexy and it will sell. as long as it helps those lazy ppl around or even disabled around, it will sell. just so people are led to believe that it is a great product (marketing tactics) it will sell. :)

i doubt there will be one. kamen has never had one for any of his other products, dont see why this one would be different. IPO's are usually done to raise venture capital, and kamen and his partners there are some of the richest people around, and im sure could finance the entire project out of their product, manufacturing and all. it will just mean more money for them in the future, and more fame.
