Will the Windows upgrade install trick work on a mac?

It should.. Windows installs via Bootcamp the same way it does on any other computer. Just run Bootcamp and setup your partition and then it'll ask you to restart. Which will automatically boot from your Windows 7 disc. Then everything is as normal.

just use the Bootcamp Assistant to set up a dual boot... and yes the upgrade disc trick will work fine. When you are running Windows with a dual boot, its normal Windows running directly just like any other PC.
