Will the vote count really determine who the next president will be?

I'm new at politics and this is the first election I've been old enough to vote. From what I understand in December the state electorial representatives will be voting for the next president. Now, I realize in most elections the state reps. usually vote parallel to what the majority of state voters have decided. But I heard a fact that an electorial rep has voted for the opposite candidate 9 times in U.S. history (ofcourse I have no idea when this has happened).

Do you think it's reasonably possible to think the same thing may happen a 10th time this year, considering the extremely tight race in many states?

I haven't heard any discussion on this, so I'm thinking it's highly doubtful. Certainly it would make this election situation even more interesting.

I'm not trying to start a gore-bush war. I just wanna know your thoughts on this issue, and if it's a realistic one.

Please don't flame me.

Doubtful. President-Elect Bush will assume office in January just as it should be.
