Will the type of coolant make a difference?

Recently put together a Thermaltake Big Water 745 using the coolant provided witth the set. I have been looking at the various types of coolants that are out there, and was curious how much of a difference the various types/brands will make as far as temps, for example Fluid XP +Ultra over the thermaltake stuff that came with my setup.

Current Setup:

C2Q Q6600 @ stock (2.4ghz, will be overclocking soon)
Thermaltake Big Water 745 (CPU is the only thing on the loop, only using the 2x120mm Radiator mounted outside the case atm, the other 120mm Radiator was busted but will be adding another one in soon)

Current temps:

On a cool day (~70F): 38F Idle
On a hot day (~80-85F): 45F Idle

not to be a.. *$*(#0 but Thermaltake=Thermalsuck.
If Aigo posts here, he will confirm that Thermaltake watercooling is worse than the best air-cooling (Thermalright Ultra120 eXtreme) and is not worth the migration to liquid cooling.
Well, since you already have the system, coolant only changes the anti-corrosive and anti-algae properties of the system, not the cooling ability. It may a little bit by changing the specific heat of the liquid by composition changes, but not by much.
Custom built loops will eat Thermalsuck products for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and midnight snacks.
You can build a cheap loop that will outperform yours by a long shot for $250

You are entitled to your opinion, but I am happy with it. For $60 my CPU temps are 10F cooler than with my Zalman 9500 and a lot quieter. So compared to your suggested "cheap" loop for $250, I think I made out just fine.

just to let you know, idle temps, in terms of performance isn't the best way to judge performance. How are you temps under load? I will also assume you meant celcius not Farenheit 😉

I really like Swiftech's "Hydrx"

Oh and don't buy anything from frozen cpu, they are to damn expensive.

yes because you know paying one extra dollar for that same product is sooo damn expensive.

...anyway $60 for a water cooling setup?!?!?!?!? good god that think has seriously got to suck ass. I mean come on Iyou could get a TRU120E for the same price and I would bet it performs the same if not better on air.

(Never watercooled anything before but I have done prices calculations before when I thought about it and most of the setups with 300+.)

IMHO with this thought process the coolant type you choose will matter little..unless you do not mix it correctly

Sorry the Tt crap is just that..I agree with the previous post a TR 120 Ultra Extreme would have been better or Tunig Tower

IMHO...half-assed WCing is never very good but good WCing is expensive

If your happy I guess that is all that matters...personally...

just use distilled water and algaecide form pet store or iodine
