I don't expect a whole lot of tea baggers will be elected in Nov. but some will. And I don't expect the Republicans to be able to, or be willing to drastically cut taxes much before the 2012 elections.

Can the tea party use this to gain control of the Republican party by claiming the Republican party has failed?

Remember, tea baggers may not be the brightest bulbs, but they sure do remember primary day. And they vote like they are pulling the lever at an execution.

Could they manage to become the effective majority of the Republican Party?

I'm guessing they'll just dissolve into the Republican party. They don't really have any different ideology than the regular republicans. They're just less corrupted by Washington and louder. As they spend time in DC, I'm sure they will be corrupted like all politicians and they will discover that problems are actually not so easy to solve (especially when you lack any new ideas). So I expect the enthusiasm of this grassroots uprising to fade away just like the enthusiasm for the 1994 republican congress and Obama faded away.

This, coupled with the fact that they have candidates like Angle and O'Donnell, is the correct response.

There's going to be quite a few tea party folks in the Senate. The best thing that will come out of it is republicans will have to get back to what the party stands for and none of this RINO shit. If it doesn't agree with republican/conservative principles and ideals then you don't vote for it.

The Republican party has already taken over the Tea Party.

That's how I see it. They'll probably take control of the government after Obama's first term and proceed to further transform the nation into an impoverished, overpopulated third world country.

When President Palin appoints Angle and O'Donnell to the Supreme Court ....D:

Hey man, don't scare me like that. Although, seeing as if those pinheads made it this far, then anything's possible. Well, then again, Ronny Reagan the actor and his wifey Nancy with their astrologer Joan Quigley making all those national security decisions for them gazing into her crystal ball made it to the top, so yeah, ANYTHING'S possible.

Damn, how could things get so freak'in bizzare that those three teahags have been able to get anywhere near the White House and Congress.

Will the Tea Party take over the Republican Party?

No, certainly not this election cycle (if ever).

Those elected will be 'junior' Congresspersons and in a minority. Good luck with that.

Republicans will still need their votes. I can guarantee Rand Paul won't be in lock step with republican leadership on everything even though his co-senator is Mitch McConnell.

No, I doubt the tea party will survive, and my guess is that the GOP will discover the tea party folks hurt the GOP more than democrats. But that is going to be determined by post 11/2/2010 election results.

Its one thing for the GOP to be a center right party, but in any two party system, its not wise for the GOP to become a far right party and thus lose every vote to the left of far right.
