Oh, one last questions before I buy:

Since I'm keeping my SSD which has my OS on it, do I:

1) Need to reinstall windows? Or is it just plug and play new CPU/mobo/ram.
2) If 1 is true, can I use the same product key since it's the same drive?

Windows 10 is a better at that sort of thing, but doing a "reset this PC" in Windows 10 would probably be a good idea.

Most likely after you boot up with your new hardware, you will need to reactivate Windows. When you try to activate it online, it will probably fail. You will probably have to call them, and if you have an OEM license, they might not let you activate it as it is tied to the motherboard. Only way to know for sure is to call them when prompted to.

Well if it's tied to a motherboard, there's almost no way they'd let me use the same license key. But, I'll still be able to boot up and have access to my files temporarily at least? Just get that annoying "You have X days to register your product" pop up all the time?

Pretty much. You can still get your files and stuff. It will just nag you to register, and won't let you do certain customizations while it is not activated.

That's fine. I really just need it to access my VPN and a few other things at the moment. Gaming season doesn't start for me until it's below about 50 degrees F outside :p

Call them anyways. You had to replace the mobo due to failure. The old mobo was not in stock/unable to order.

The techs I've talked to only asked about using on multiple computers. I always told them no way, only using on one computer.

Yeah I guess it's worth a call but with MS I don't expect much. Big Billy Gates didn't make billions giving free passes...
