Will the retail fan/sink be good enough for a non-oc'ed FX-55?

hey all,

Just wanted to make sure that a stock heatsink and fan would be good enough to cool a FX-55 and keep it safe if i'm not overclocking. Obviously AMD thinks it is plenty good but i'm just making sure there are no complaints on the user end. I'm hoping to just stick with the stock fan and sink for now.

I would take a recommendation for the BEST aftermarket sink and fan that would fit on a ABIT AV8 or ASUS A8V with the FX-55 just for my own info.

Thanks again,
Seth

Your chip will be fine. Nice and cool. I have a 3200 with the stock hsf running at 2.55ghz and its completely stable.

i have the zalman (aluminum and copper) and the arctic cooling cools alil better is quiet and cheaper, i think the zalman all copper might cool as good costs more tho. the freezer cools a tiny bit better than the xp 90 too. i dont have a xp 120 but i know someone who does and that thing cools better. not that much tho (think ~1-2°) and its louder (at least with a fan that does those 1-2° less) and costs 3x as much with a decent fan.
