I remember the relentless attacks on the Clintons. Will the Republicans do the same to Mr Obama?

More like unfortunately for the US he is teflon Obama. Because nothing stuck in the minds of voters.
jpeyton, I am not a registered Republican, nor do I approve of the job Bush has done, but I am willing to bet you Obama will not deliver on even half the promises he made to this country to get in there. In fact, the only thing I forsee is Pelosi/Reid using him as a puppet in there, and neither one of them have done shit to help improve this country in their entire gov't lives.

Does a bear sh*t in the woods?

The GOP spent 7 1/2 years blaming every problem they caused on Bill Clinton.

The day after the election whiners were complaining on this forum that Obama had not fixed the stock market yet-despite the fact that he won't even take office for another 2 1/2 months.

The GOP loves to talk the mantra of self responsibility but they rarely exercise it.

Keep predicting he is not even in office yet and your crystal ball is giving you bad advice!!

Yes, you can count on it. They have no self respect or limits. I imagine they're hiring a slime crew right now.

Not unless they catch him banging interns. I'm surprised they haven't yet, I've a lot of respect for the guy for not going after the countless number of gorgeous supporters he has.

No, of course not. Karl Rove's heart first came into existence, and then grew 3*10^6 sizes on Election Day, now occupying approximately 4 cubic millimeters.
He will soon learn of "compassion," and publicly apologize for his past actions and mistakes. Then he will call for the dissolution of the Republican party.

Then lipstick-wearing pigs will fly.

I think not.
First, the press likes Obama.
Second, a lot of republicans voted for him. I'm thinking Condoleezza Rice was one of them.
Third, Obama doesn?t seem to be so abrasive as Clinton.
Fourth, the public and the world has rallied around Obama. He will have many watching his back.
Fifth, Obama is more conservative then most realize. His own party liberals will probably be more ticked off on his approach on some issues than the conservatives will be.
I personally believe he will, at some point, give Reid and Pelosi a strict lesson in Obamanomics.
I don?t believe its in Obama's nature to act like a care free liberal.
I don?t think he will play that game, much to "their" dislike.

It wasn't really relentless until after he let his personal life affect his work and then lied under oath. :p

You do not remember the Republican investigations into Whitewater, "travel office gate", the guy who committed suicide, etc. After spending millions of dollars the Republicans finally got Clinton because he lied about having an affair.

Whitewater was a serious thing. I thought by "relentless" you meant more petty attacks.

SInce the Dems control the both the House and the Senate it will be more like what the Dems did when GWB was in office.

HaHA... heck the day after the election people were already blaming him for the stock market going down.

The Republican campaign just showed they don;t care about issues, just about trying to sling mud so they can get their power back. Now they are even doing it to themselves. People suggested Palin might be a Prez nod in 4 years so the mud went out against her.

This.

Repubs got nuthin' but personal attack & propaganda. Maybe Rove will find compassion on his deathbed like Lee Atwater.

Nothing but the issues and how to pay for everything Obama promised and stabilize the economy at the same time. Seems like a lot to me??

Not sure. The GOP is a party that thrives a lot on hate. Much of it unspoken of course.

But the Clinton era held a special significance. It was the first chance the GOP had to get revenge for Watergate. For years they searched and searched for ssomthing worthy enough to impeach Clinton on. Time was beginning to run out....so they had to setlle for Monica.

The presidential campaign was just a preview of the next 4 years.

The problem for repubs with Obama is that the underlying premises of their attacks on Clinton, Sex and money, don't seem to apply to Obama. No titillation, and no personal persecutor pitbull latched onto his neck in the person of Ken Starr.

Trust me when I say that as far as the Right is concerned, Obama won't ever do anything right, no matter what, and that they'll do their dead level best to make sure he can't. With any luck at all, they'll completely discredit themselves in the process.

I think we'll see Dems reaching out to moderate repubs, making some compromises, advancing their agenda over the howls of the rightwing faithful and their thinktank-spawned leadership. That'll be particularly true if repubs follow thru on their current thinking of moving even further Right, puttin' on the smug, purging the unfaithful from their ranks- moderate repubs will pretty much be on their own, since they won't be able to do anything right, either...

A better question is: Will republicans go after obama like the dems went after bush?

The answer is no; we don't have that much hate.

Dems attacked Bush on a personal level, republicans will attack Obama on his policy and not delievering his long list of promises he spoon feed the electorate.

We republicans will hold him accountable. He promised tax cuts (well tax cuts to those that actually pay income taxes and welfare under the name of a tax cut to those that don't); so did Clinton but I'm still waiting for Bill's tax cut.

He also said that we'd be off foreign oil in 10 years after he was elected so the republicans should buy a huge count down clock to prove that was like most of his promises--pie in the sky horseshit that gullibe voters bought hook, line, and sinker.

Basically the republicans will prove to America that he promised everything under the sun and can't deliever.

Very well written and I agree with you but unfortunately the media will make most of the republicans look like whiners when they start to point out faults in Obama's policies, or worst racists.
