will the RADIATOR COOLANT ADDITIVE help any?

i saw one of those bottles that are supposed to lower engine temp by 20(F or C?) degrees for ~$8. would i benefit at all by getting one of those? i drive an eclipse gt (3.0L v6).

Is your car overheating? If not, the stuff's useless. If it is, spend time diagnosing and repairing the problem, not throwing a quick fix at it.

If the stuff is so great at only $8, then why didn't Mitsubishi put it in there themselves?

All of the car's engine systems are designed to operate at a certain minimum temperature for emissions and efficiency. That minimum temperature, usually around 190 degrees F, is controlled by the thermostat.

Unless it?s nearly overheating, leave it alone, except to replace/flush the coolant every 1-2 years.

redline watter wetter helps a bunch when you are pushing your car! It's not meant to fix a problem, but rather, extend the abuse you can throw at the car.

Water Wetter can help if your engine's running hot (like if your temp needle hovers too high all the time), otherwise, you won't really need it unless your beating the crap out of your engine and redlining it all day. If you put it in, and your engine starts running too cold, it won't be good - too low of an engine temp for prolonged periods of time can cause excessive wear on bearings and it isn't so great for emissions...

sure it is - if your engine's running too hot (like if the radiator is on it's way out) it can give the cooling system a helping hand

well, even when i push it, the temp does not increase. but it will decrease slightly if i turn on the warm air.

Redline WaterWetter is supposed to increase the efficiency of heat transfer betweeen the engine and coolant by preventing localized boiling of the coolant. In the summer using a higher mix of water to antifreeze will help with cooling.

I run WaterWetter in a turbo engine which can get very hot.

Actually, bypassing the ignorance here, it can help.

True, cars are designed to run ~190f, and have thermostats to regulate them there. But, in hot weather (90f +) cars rise above the thermostat temp. So. If the car is running @ 210 w/o the additive, it will run cooler with it. This will equate to a small performance increase and better A/C performance. Red Line Water Wetter works by braking waters natural surface tension, making the water have more of a contact surface with the metal, pulling heat away faster. If you live in the south, a bottle or water wetter and 1/2 gal antifreeze (to lubricate water pump and stop corrosion) is the best mix.
