Will the PIII 700 run on 133mhz bus for 933mhz? Trying to speed up for cheap.

Don't want to get another motherboard etc. Right now it's a Gigabyte (via chipset), boxed PIII 700mhz with 256mb of Corsair Value PC100. The options I've found so far are
Celeron 1000 for about $85-90
Swap memory with PNY 256mb pc133 and go for 933mhz with 133 bus speed. Best Buy $49 plus tax.

Your 700@700 will feel about the same as the celeron 1g@1g IMO

700@933 was failry common a year and half ago i think. heck i cant remember anymore.

Your ram might hold you back. you should be able to do 133 with slow ram timings, but then again its value ram. Even if it doesnt your celeron at 1.333 migh be a good combo if it will run it. You will still need the 133 ram too.

First try you current chip with the ram you ahve. just set the ram timings to cas 3-3-3-3 or whatever the larger numbers are. If its stable one at a time set them back till it craps out. then set that one back up, and go to the next timing.

you just gotta take the plunge. and make sure you are willing to destroy anything in the system before going through with it. it doesnt happen much, but you never know what a rogue cpu will do!
