Just out of curiousity, why on earth would you purchase high-end graphics cards for audio production systems where noise is one of your concerns?

Can the XTX drive 3 30" LCDs?

What about a Samsung?
Link

They do not appear to ship directly, but if you could get in touch with a local distributor, you may be able to obtain some.

As for the Apple issue, from the sounds of it you are more than likely stuck waiting for a BIOS update from ATi (which they have not officially condoned for some time now).

I wish they would hurry up with it already.. I am having a somewhat similar issue that Ill bet is related.

Mine is with a Dell 2005FPW and BBA 1900XTX. It shows the bios just fine until you do a warm boot ( Start > Shutdown > Restart, or reset button ). Once that happens you get the same scenario, blank screen until the Windows XP splash unless you A. cold boot the computer, B. cycle through the input selection on the monitor, or C. cycle monitor power.

Not a terribly big deal, just annoying.

You should probably prepare yourself for the RMA process. The alternative is blind-flashing from a boot disk, unless ATi can somehow come up with a way to safely perform the fix via a driver update.

Yes it appears NV cards do not have this problem.

Quadro 2000/3000, 5900U, 5950U, 6800U, 6800UEX, 7800/7900/7950 all WORKED. ATi X850 /X1800 /X1900 do NOT.

Do you suspect that this is somehow HDMI-related? Does it occur over analog?

Ok I'm confused. We're using dual link DVI-D cables here. I've never tried to adapt either to analog. I don't even know if it would display anything like regardless of mode. Perhaps you mean HDCP? The Apple display is not HDCP nor is the ATi card. The Dell is and the only NV card that's HDCP compliant is the 7950GT. The one system that's running that has a bluray burner but I have not even tried playback on it due to lack of titles. Any suggestions for titles? ;)

My suspicion is that the issue has something to do with Windows Vista and the new copy protection technologies.

I'm surprised these screens do not have an analog port, even if it means running at non-native resolution (perhaps 1/2 resolution).

Terminator 2 looks pretty good at 1080P.

Do you have a PS3 in your posession?

These were NV ref boards of various manufacturers - Gainward, Canopus (not avail in US), BFG (what does BFG stand for? hehe), XFX, and PNY.

The heatpipe cooled 7950GT is very nice - no noise at all and in a studio THAT is what the doc wants. ;)

I don't have a PS3. Should I get one? :Q
