Will the next versions of DX10 cards require PCI Express 2.0?

nothing has been said about cards requiring pci express 2.0 in the near future (they will support it (I believe the 2900 already does) but nothing should require it anytime soon).

PCI-E 2.0 doesn't matter TBH, the high end cards today are hardly maxing out the full PCI-E 1 16x bandwidth, however PCI-E 2.0 does bring 150 watts through the slot opposed to 75 from PCI-E 1 which is a good start nonetheless.

So the only real benefit I would get for now is that I may not need to use a power connector to attach to the card for power?

Ya bandwidth won't become a problem for some time, but power requirements might. PCI-E 2.0 requirements would allow cardmakers to potentially eliminate external power adapters while driving the often self-serving interests of changing mobo specs.
