Will the new PS2 be able to read burnt CDs & DVDs?

Just wondering if it can read burnt DVDs.My roomates PS2 won't, and since I am about to move out and don't have any type of gaming system, I was thinking of getting one of these if it can read burnt DVDs and CDs.

I had the same problem and fixed it by burning my DVD?s at 1x. I also had better luck playing backed up DVDs using DVD shrink software.

You need to modify the console to play using backup copies of games, this involves buying a mod chip and doing some soldering.

try this: don't use pirated software and you won't have to worry as much about burnt cds and dvds.

if you own it, no need to use a burned copy.

There was this excellent 4x4 game, 1nsane, and one of the world's largest real-world 4x4 boards (people with the real trucks you know) had a member who had it on FTP, clocking over 6 million downloads... there will never be an 1nsane2 because they failed to make a profit at all because of mass piracy. Why buy a game when you can download it? No one believes in supporting good games anymore...

Fuckers. I loved 1nsane.

To answer what I think was the original question, if you have a burned music cd or a self created dvd....earlier revisions of the ps2 will not read them, or if they do, it has to be high quality media, with the newer dvd software out(via a remote purchase for the console), I am able to read more and more of my created dvds.

Unless you want to keep wear and tear on the discs to a minimum.

*nod* some people have kids, nephews/nieces, little brothers/sisters, pets, etc... At a few cents per game, it's a good idea for many people to make and use backup copies while keeping the originals on a high shelf somewhere.
