PET PEEVE: Why do they always measure ticket sales in $$$ and not actual tickets sold? Prices for tickets when E.T. was in the theaters is probably half of what it is today. So, if they sell half as many tickets they'll beat the old movie revenue.

Did anyone ever read that E.T. book (The Green Planet I think) that was the sequal to E.T. Is the movie based on that, or is it going to be something different?

I heard that the movie is just some addition of never seen footages, better sound, remade special effects added to the old movie... Basically its still the same movie.

Yeah, that's the impression that I got as well. I just think there's tons of hardcore ET fans out there, plus a lot of kids today might have not seen it before.

I definitely agree with your cow milking comment, though. :)

hmmm, remade special effects....like editing out guns and replacing them with something innocuous like flashlights or walkie talkies.

Because money is what matters, not how many people see it.

dman does have a point, though. With inflation and an increase in ticket prices, how good a measure is it that a movie released in 2000 grossed $100 million while a movie released in 1950 grossed $10 million? It would be interesting to see stats on tickets sold, especially with the ridiculous prices at theatres today.

I think they should do it by Ticket number instead of money, now E.T. is gonna be 8 bills it was 1/2 that back then

Edit: my bad dman6666 already stated how it should be done
