Will the new Catalyst VPU Recover Prevent 'Infinite Loop Errors' for my Radeon 9700??

thatsright

Just downloaded the Catalyst 3.8 driver set with the new VPU Recover feature. I'm not sure if this will fix/prevent the only thing I can think it may apply to. Every so often, I my Power Color 9700 NON-Pro will crash back to desktop with a resolution of 640X480 and 8Bit color; with a error message of 'This device was stuck in a infinite loop......' It goes from 1280X1024X32Bit and will crash back to desktop and I can do any normal activity in Windows, but at the resolution and color depth, it really is virtually impossible. The only way out of this problem is to restart XP. BTW, I disabled the 'Fast Writes' option in SMARTGART and this has lessened the frequency of it happening, but it still occasionally does.

So will the VPU Recovery feature stop these 'Infinite Loop Error' errors???

If anyone knows, please let me know as well.

MEM: Yes I did all of this, removing drivers and then using drive cleaner to really get rid of all the CAT 3.7 drivers. Unfortunately, I tried to set my Vid card to 4X AGP in my IC7 BIOS, and it won't work. I can 'set it' to 4X, but as soon as I boot into XP, I get screen corruption. There is no option in my IC7 BIOS for FASTWRTIES at all, only in the ATI Control Panel.

So would anyone know about my original question? Will the new Catalyst VPU Recover Prevent 'Infinite Loop Errors' for my Radeon 9700?? Thanks again.
