Will the Mac Mini accept two 2gb ddr sticks?

I understand that apple claims that 2gb is the max in the mini, and unofficial reports claim that 3gb is really the max. what i'm wondering is if I can stick two 2gb (4gb total) sticks into my mini so I get the dual channel benefits and just have the system read it as 3gb?

the other option was that I would get one 2gb stick and use one of my existing 512mb sticks for the other slot.. but I think this would actually be worse than just 2 x 1gb. what do ya'll think?

I saw the other thread about a very similar question for the mac book pro but I need the info for the mac mini... thanks in advance!

I've seen it show the full 4GB when running under Leopard or any 64bit linux distro. But then I've seen some where it will only show 3GB.

On a Mac Mini? The issue (on the other systems) has never been the OS, but rather the chipset. Heck, I worked on a older PowerMac G5 that had 8GB RAM, the OS recognized and could use all of it, and that was running Tiger.

If it's an Intel Mac Mini then it should see 4GB (using the Intel 945G chipset). The G4 versions only used DDR, which was 2GB. My 2nd gen MBP was the same thing; based on a 945 chipset, Tiger saw only 3GB while Leopard saw 4GB.
