Hey,
I'm looking to set up a home network. I have 2 computers and possibly a notebook hooked up some of the time, and I'd like to be able to share a cable internet connection, files, and printers. Will the Linksys Etherfast Cable/DSL Router W/ 4-Port 10/100 Switch do what I want? Is that all I need? Except for a NIC in each computer and the Cat 5 cable(s). How can I tell if my cable modem will work with the router (I don't want to but another IP), some people said my ISP has to support DHCP? How can I tell?

Thanks for the help. As you can see I'm pretty much stupid as you get when it comes to networking! But I'm trying to learn. :)

It will without a doubt do what you want. I have yet to hear of a cable company where you cant use it.
I luv mine.

i will reaffirm what he just said and say with a resounding "yes" that the Linksys will do that just fine.

Ok, great! Thanks! And I don't need any other hardware to be able to share files and printers? Just 1 router, 2 NICs, and cables.
