I just saw $2.39 on my way to work tonight, so I would say we are getting close. It helps that the hurricane that hit Texas wasn't as bad as predicted.

I assumed that CAD? So... 3.78L in a gallon. So $3.78 CAD for a gallon, and according to the current exhange rate 1 USD = .85 CAD. So... 1 gallon in the land of Canada cost about $3.21. Of course I'm sure most of the differance has to do with road taxes and such.

I guess the "hey it's going to hit $5 because of Rita" scare didn't affect gas prices after all did it ? How many here were against people filling up beforehand ? I'm sure a lot of people did anyway... and guess what ? It didn't affect prices.

At the height of the Katrina problem, we were $3.30. And 3 weeks later, Rita was knocking on the door... prices dropped to the point of $2.89 and stayed there, even after Rita.

What a bunch of phooey... all of you who were calling them morons for being responsible for raising prices even more can shove it.

<-- didn't fill up but still... :D

They just said on the news this morning that they think it'll go back up to $3 anyu day now and stay there for a while because all those Texas refiners are shut down to make repairs.

87 octane is still about $2.90 here in Philadelphia, although when my gf was visiting family in Ohio last week she said it was down around $2.50 there. Must be the PA gas tax or something.

I don't think we will see gas permanently below $2.00 again, unless there is another economic collapse in Asia like in '98. It might slip below once or twice from gas tax relief or releasing oil from our strategic reserves, but only for a short period of time.

Probably not, by the time we get more refining capacity inflation/demand will have increased to match it. It was fun while it lasted though.
