Will the APC 1000VA UPS protect my Ethernet connection???

I want to buy the APC 1000VA UPS (BP1000). My only question about it is if it will be able to protect my 10/100 Ethernet connection. On the product information page for the BP1000, it says that it has protection for a phone/modem/fax line or a 10 BaseT ethernet cable. Can I connect my network cable even though my connection is 10/100??
