Will the A8N-SLI Deluxe take 1GB sticks of RAM?

Currently I have two 512 MB sticks of RAM in my A8N-SLI Deluxe.

I'm considering taking them out and adding two 1 GB sticks.

Will this cause any problems?

I've heard the board won't take 1GB sticks and that I should just add two more 512 MB sticks.

What should I do?
 
There was apost on thew Asus forums about avoiding a full 4 GB RAM, up to 3 GB or 3.5 GB seems to be fine. I use 2 of the 1GB sticks in A1 and B1 slots. No problems.
