Someone asked my wife this and I thought the same thing. It works for Desert Rose and Bamboo and I've got this fern that grows out of a bulb.... I don't know. Is it worth a shot to take this cut sunflowers and bury them a couple inches???

You can try, but sunflowers will only sprout from seed. If you bury a sunflower cutting in the soil you will end up with nothing more than a dead sunflower in the dirt.

The only way I can see it working is if you would slice the entire plant off slightly below ground but above the root. The sunflower might then attempt to establish new roots. This is rather pointless though, why not just transplant. A single leaf cutting, or similar isn't going to work.
