A couple of weeks ago my computer started acting up. I suspected my overclocked 533 might be fried, but then when I swapped out the power supply, the problems diminished significantly. Now it's acting up again. All I want to know is, is it possible for the cpu to damaged but still functioning mostly? i.e. if I am able to run half-life (which I have been) can I eliminate as the source of my problem or is it possible that it's damaged?

If you are running it overclocked still, trying lowering it back to normal and see if it fixes it.

If its at stock speed, try lowering it below stock speed and see if it fixes it.

Might help you figure out whats going on.

I had a Pentium3 CPU whose SSE area was fried, but was otherwise fine, FWIW.
